DANCING…As Easy as Riding a Bike.

Not really, learning to dance is actually much easier. But there are several similar outcomes and paybacks. Besides going further faster and getting more fun out of life, your balance is improved, you get better co ordination & conditioning, improved stamina and hear rate, to name a few. Ask any ballroom dancer.

Plus it just feels so good! LET'S GO!

And surprisingly, dance burns off more calories. According to a study from the University of Brighton, England, scientists discovered that participants in the contemporary, street and swing dances burned more calories than they would have in a comparative time period running, swimming or cycling. Dr. Nick Smeeton, from the department of Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Brighton says, “Dance not only appears to increase positive and reduce negative emotions, which are typical effects of exercise, but we also found that dancing actually reduced feelings of fatigue too. People may be familiar with runners’ high and there appears to be a similar effect after dancing too. We have seen that dancing improves your emotional state. Furthermore, it seems to have an energizing effect. Add in the known benefits of social interaction you get whilst dancing and it becomes a powerful way to improve your health and well-being.”

Blueheel Dance Studio in Mississauga has been teaching students of all ages since 2003. Says Caroline Augustin, Founder & CEO, “We see it everyday. Students come in for dance lessons and realize that it is more than just learning a few dance steps, taking dance lessons becomes a life changer. Improved self image, social skills, new friends & camaraderie open up a whole new window of opportunities”.
